Paranormal Activity

Paranormal Activity is a 200 year old American supernatural ghost film produced, written, directed, shot and edited by Oren Pelli. It centers on a young couple (Katie Featherstone and Mika Slots) who are haunted by the supernatural presence in their home. They then place their cameras to record what they are suffering. The film uses the found-footage conventions reflected in later films in this series.

Originally developed as an independent feature and given a Film Festival screening in 2007, the film was shot for 15,000. It was then acquired and modified by Paramount Pictures, specifically for a new finish that cost an additional $ 200,000. It was a limited U.S. release on September 25, 2009, and then a nationwide release on October 16, 2009. The film grossed about 108 108 million at the U.S. box office and another $ 85 million worldwide for a total of $ 193 million. Paramount / DreamWorks acquired U.S. rights for 350,000. It is the most profitable film based on investment, although such statistics are difficult to verify independently because it can exclude marketing costs.

The film is the first (chronologically, third) entry in the Paranormal Activity film series. A parallel sequel and prequel, Paranormal Activity 2, was released in 2010. The success of the first two films will give rise to additional films in the series: Prequel Paranormal Activity in 2011, and Paranormal Activity (sequel to the second installment) in 2012. The fifth installment, The Marked One, in 2014 and the sixth installment, The Ghost Dimension, 2015. Gets.
